"the curious repetition of the title The Revolt of the Greeks; or, The Maid of Athens in two separate plays (Walker’s, of 1824, and Buckstone’s, of 1829) reflects Byron’s influence. The title reads as a reference to his popular poem from 1810, ‘Maid of Athens, Ere We Part’, several times set to music by composers of the era. (Svane 2019, 98)"
